We will have our 2018 workshops/vendors available as soon as possible, as you can imagine it is a large task planning so much awesome!
WHAT IS SUSTAINABILITY?
WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE FOLLOWING DEFINITIONS:
Sustainability: The ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This encompasses environmental, economic, social equity, cultural and political concerns.
Sustainable Community: A small social unit of people living together with the intention of reconciling environmental, social equity and economic demands for both the present and future generations.
Local: Grown, sourced, located, and created in the Kootenay Region.
Organic: Produced without the addition of commercial fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.
The Village is the heart of the festival, it features our outdoor stage, vendors, and a covered dance area.
The purpose of the Village is to examine, celebrate and learn about all of the elements that make a community sustainable. It is a place to learn new skills and see how people are using technology to live in ways that are more gentle to our planet.
We are very proud of the efforts that we have made in the last few years to educate and entertain, and we will be adding new elements this year. Here are just few things featured last year:
- Bee keeping
- Edible herb and plant walk
- Sustainable building
- Tiny house living
- Renewable powered life
The Village Vendors
We will be having tons of interactive vendors and displays in the village.
We will also be showcasing vendors from the Salmo Valley Farmers Market. Come meet the amazing folks who grow our food!
The Village will be home to interactive art projects, displays, music, spoken word and art throughout the weekend.
